Choosing the Best Category and Division for You

Are you ready to showcase your hard work and dedication on the NatBod Bodysport stage? Whether you are a seasoned competitor or a first-timer, NatBod Bodysport has the perfect category and division for you. You can choose from two exciting categories: Athletic Bodysculpting and Classical Bodybuilding, each with different divisions based on your age, experience level, and weight. You can also enter as many categories and divisions as you are eligible for, to maximize your chances of winning and having fun.

CATEGORIES

ATHLETIC Bodysculpting

This category is for those who want to display their athletic physique and bodysculpting skills. You will be judged on your individual poses as well as your muscularity, conditioning, proportions and presentation. The best part is, you don’t have to worry about being too big or too small for this category, as there is a weight limit based on your height. This ensures a fair and balanced competition among all competitors.

To enter this category, you will need to wear a sporty outfit that shows off your physique. Women will wear a crop top style sports bra (minimal back coverage preferred) and booty shorts with sneakers. Men will wear athletic/fitness wear shorts and sneakers (no boardshorts).

You will also need to perform four mandatory poses that demonstrate your muscular development and definition. These poses are: front double biceps, side oblique, back double biceps, and front abdominals.

To find out your weight limit for this category, use our handy weight limit calculator here.

To learn how to perform the mandatory poses correctly, check out our posing guide here.

Classical BODYBUILDING

This category is for those who want to showcase their classic physique and bodybuilding skills. You will be judged on your individual poses as well as muscularity, conditioning, proportion and presentation. There is no weight limit for this category, so you can unleash your full potential and impress the judges with your size and aesthetics.

To enter this category, you will need to wear a classic posing costume that accentuates your physique. Women will wear a crop top style sports bra (minimal back coverage preferred) and bikini bottoms. Men will wear classic style posing trunks (e.g., swim briefs).

You will also need to perform eight mandatory poses that demonstrate your muscular development and definition. These poses are: front double biceps, front lat spread, side chest, side triceps, back double biceps, back lat spread, abs & thighs, and most muscular.

What Category Should You Choose?

At NatBod Bodysport, we are not looking for a certain “type” of physique, but rather the best combination of all factors. We want to encourage diversity and individuality in the sport, just like in the old school era where Steve Reeves, John Grimek & Reg Park were all top champions with different types of physiques. The main determining factor on what category you choose will often be the weight limit. If you are within the weight limit for Athletic Bodysculpting, you can enter this category and show off your lean and fit physique. If you are above the weight limit for Athletic Bodysculpting, you can enter Classical Bodybuilding and show off your massive and sculpted physique. Of course, you can also enter both categories if you are eligible for both.

Another important thing to note is that there are no divisions in heels or blingy costumes at NatBod Bodysport. We want to keep the sport natural and authentic, and focus on the competitors’ physiques rather than their outfits or accessories. There are also no separate standards for men and women – just like any other legitimate sport. We want to create a level playing field for all competitors regardless of their gender identity or expression. So if you are a woman who doesn’t feel comfortable posing or walking in heels or a bikini with sequins or rhinestones – don’t worry! You can wear whatever makes you feel confident and comfortable on stage as long as it meets our basic requirements.

DIVISIONS

At NatBod Bodysport, we believe that every competitor deserves to be judged properly and receive their fair share of time on stage. That’s why we limit the number of competitors on stage to a maximum of six. If a division has more than six competitors, it will be split evenly based on height. There are different divisions based on age and experience level, ensuring you get to compete on a fair playing field. The following divisions are available.

ATHLETIC Bodysculpting DIVISIONS

Athletic Bodysculpting is a category that showcases your athletic physique and bodysculpting skills. It is a unique new style of competing that is still growing in popularity among natural bodybuilders. There are three divisions for this category:

TEAMS

If you want to share the excitement and camaraderie of competing with your friends, family, or gym mates, you can enter as a team. Teams can represent gyms, coaches, local areas etc., and compete for the coveted NatBod Bodysport Team Trophy. You will need a minimum of three members per team (up to unlimited amount), and each team member will earn points for their placings in each of their divisions:

  • 1st Place = 6 points
  • 2nd Place = 4 points
  • 3rd Place = 2 points
  • Outside Top 3 = 1 point

All team members’ points are added together and an average calculated – the team with the highest average wins.

PRO DIVISION

If you want to take your competition career to the next level and join the elite ranks of NatBod Bodysport Pros, you will need to qualify through our amateur events. We do not recognise pros from other organisations, as we want to reward the athletes who have worked hard and come up through our system. Qualification is on offer for the Overall Amateur Champions at Pro/Am events, with the opportunity to go on to compete in the Pro Division at that same event. Pro cards may also be awarded on special occasions at the judges’ discretion for exceptional athletes.

As a NatBod Bodysport Pro, you will enjoy many benefits and opportunities that other organisations don’t offer. For example, you will compete for free – which is the true meaning of professional. You will also have a chance to win prize money at events, as well as to promote yourself and your brand through our media platforms and partnerships. You will also be part of a supportive and respectful community of fellow pros who share your passion and vision for the sport.
